CULTURAL MATINÉ IN THE CASTANEA PATISSERIE
Patisserie named Castanea will have its name derived from the Latin name for chestnut, which is the typical tree for our region. The patisserie will be a multifunctional place that will fill out the demand for food of our visitors in the area. Apart from the basic gastronomic services, it will also offer space for exhibitions of art, vernissages, educational activities (for example quizzes for the general public), but also discussions (for example about the issue of the holocaust, position of women in the society, fight against the prejudice, radicalization or extremism). We plan to raise awareness about the culture of minorities, especially the Romani people whose number in the population of our region is fairly high, (for example by organizing concerts of the Romani music bands, public readings of Roma literature.) These cultural matinees will be organized a minimum of twice per month for the general public, for the children from the kindergarten, students of the elementary and high schools, beginner or professional artists. At the same time, in the patisserie, we will present our traditional speciality made from the chestnuts produced by the local confectioners. Regular ˝chestnut Fridays˝ will show the samples of processing the chestnut fruit to the general public - production of raw chestnut rolls, cooked chestnut, roasted chestnut. The visitors will not only be able to see the process of making the chestnut rolls but they will be able to try to make it themselves. An engagement of the local craftsman  to the project, who operates as an art carver in Modrý Kameň is also connected to this activity. Thanks to his skill we will be able to have wooden dishes for the activities during the chestnut Fridays. An interactive book will be placed in the area of the patisserie, which will be an innovative way of presenting the activities in the museum, regional products, 3D presentation of the puppets and historical toys. The book will contain interactive educational games with the topics connected to the museum. The target group are the tourists and the visitors of the museum, the general public, especially the Romani children, women and the youth.
